About the Organ Kit

The Orgelkids pipe organ initiative began its life in the Netherlands. On the company's website, they say of the kit:
Picture
The Orgelkids organ is a mechanical, two rank pipe organ in a box. In the box you find all the parts to build a real organ. Children can build this organ (with a little help from an organbuilder or organist). Different tasks can be done in groups simultaneously: constructing the frame, sorting pipes, sorting keys. Then all the parts come together in the frame: the windchest, the bellows, keys and pipes. Then … play!
Uses for the Orgelkids Kit cover a spectrum from small choreographed groups to being at the mercy of interest struck in a public space, from fleeting to multi-faceted interest, and everything in between. The team that created the OrgelKids Kit has been testing Orgelkids in every possible setting to meaningfully engage the public with the pipe organ: public schools, outdoor markets, Bach in the Subway and Maker Faires, Organ Unleashed at the steps of Montreal’s Notre Dame Basilica, adult education programs, museum workshops, pre-concert workshops.
The kit is suitable for all ages from the youngest children to the oldest adult, and everyone in between. With no musical skill needed, its curriculum is adaptable for AGO and other music functions, church functions, STEM curriculum in schools, public settings, and anything else.
